Driving Safety Course
A mandatory court appearance is required for all defendants under 17 years old. A parent or guardian MUST accompany you. Failure to appear by a parent is a Class C misdemeanor and may be fined up to $200.00.
If you are under the age of 25 at the time of the citation, you are mandated by law to complete a Drivers Safety Course.
If you qualify and successfully complete the course, the citation may be dismissed and will not appear on your driving record.
You are NOT eligible for DSC if:
- You were charged with speeding 25 mph or more over the posted speed limit
- The offense occurred in a construction zone while workers were present
- You hold a Commercial Driver License (CDL)
- Received a citation for No Motor Vehicle Liability Insurance
- Any other non-moving violations
Completion Requirements
You will have 90 days to:
- Complete the approved driving safety course(DSC)
- Obtain a certified copy of your driving record from the Texas Department of Public Safety
- Submit a notarized affidavit as required by the court
- Submit ALL required documents to the court for review
Once all required documents are received and approved, the citation will be dismissed.
To qualify, you must:
- Have a valid Texas driver’s license
(unless you are active military, or the spouse or dependent of active military) - Provide valid proof of motor vehicle insurance or financial responsibility
- Have not completed a driving safety course within the past 12 months
- Pay the required $144 court fee at the time of request
How to Request DSC
Your request must be submitted on or before your initial court appearance date.

Submit during regular business hours and bring:
- Driver’s license
- Proof of insurance
- Payment of $144
- Complete the required form below
- Pay online at trafficpayment.com
- Be sure to manually change the payment amount to $144
