You can prevent the citation from going on your driving record by successfully completing the driving safety course. The violation for which you have been charged can be dismissed, if you qualify.

Driving Safety Course cannot be taken to dismiss the charge if the defendant was speeding 25 mph or more over the speed limit, if the violation was committed in a construction zone when workers were present or the defendant holds a Commercial driver license.

You will have 90 days in which to complete the course and obtain a certified copy of your driving record from DPS. Upon successful completion and return of your documents to the court, your citation will be dismissed.

To Qualify You Must:
Have a valid Texas driver’s license (unless defendant is active military or active military spouse or dependent.)
Have valid motor vehicle insurance or other evidence of financial responsibility.
