You may be able to request that this charge be dismissed by requesting placement on Deferred Disposition Probation.
Deferred disposition is a process in which the judge requires the defendant to adhere to certain terms. If a defendant successfully completes those terms, the case will be dismissed. Terms may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Attending a defensive driving class
  • Completing a specified number of community service hours
  • Refraining from committing certain violations during a specified time period

Deferred Disposition cannot be taken to dismiss the charge if the defendant was speeding 25 mph or more over the speed limit, if the violation was committed in a construction zone when workers were present, if the defendant holds a Commercial driver license or failure to stop for a school bus.
